For service requests with no existing meter

New service requests with no existing meter require an Electricity Supply Permit for both temporary and permanent service prior to completing an application. This permit must be obtained from the TCI Government Planning Department.

  • Completed application and agreement for supply of electricity form.
  • Two valid forms of government-issued identification.

Acceptable forms of government-issued identification include:

  • Passport
  • Driver’s license
  • National Health Insurance Card
  • National Insurance Board Card
  • For proof of ownership, submit a certified copy of the TCIG Land Register.
  • If renting, the owner must complete the FortisTCI Owner’s Consent form, submit his or her valid government-issued identification and a certified copy of the TCIG Land Register. The owner or landlord must also provide the correct 911 issued address and meter number.
  • Property managers must present a letter from the property owner authorizing the manager to act on the owner’s behalf.
  • Connection fee and deposit.
  • In the event that a line extension of more than eight poles is required, additional fees will apply.

Security Deposit

A security deposit must be paid before service connection. Deposits are used to cover outstanding balances upon the closure of an account.

General Information

  • An applicant credit check is performed before account opening.
  • Service connections usually take 24 to 48 hours where there is an existing meter.
  • Cheque payments that are returned for non-sufficient funds (NSF) will result in a penalty of $50.00. The account may also be subject to a "CASH ONLY" status.
  • Once a service connection is disconnected, there is a charge of $50.00 for reconnection. The reconnection fee must be paid with the account balance before service is reinstated. Reconnections usually take 24 to 48 hours to complete after payment is received.
  • The installation service fee is non-refundable. Deposits for accounts in good standing are refundable upon termination of service.

Customer Forms

  • Completed application and agreement for supply of electricity form.
  • Valid business license.
  • If the applicant is registered as a company:
    • Company registration
    • Recent certificate of good standing
    • Register of officers and directors
  • FortisTCI Personal Guarantee of Payment form
  • Two forms of valid government-issued identification of directors(s) or owner(s).

$350.00 Installation/Service Charge.

$750 Installation/Service Charge (Three-phase Service)

Security deposit for three-phase service is a minimum of six weeks estimated electricity consumption.

Customer Forms

  • An application for the installation of new service takes three (3) to four (4) weeks for processing.
  • There is a $750 installation and service charge, and a deposit of a minimum of six weeks estimated electricity consumption for three-phase accounts.
  • Applicant must meet with FortisTCI planning engineers regarding new developments that will require additional electrical poles or underground excavation. If a line extension of more than eight poles is required, additional fees will apply.
  • Applicant must install a meter for temporary and permanent service that meets standards set by the National Electrical Code (NEC). All meters must be able to accommodate a FortisTCI lock and ring.
  • Two forms of valid government-issued identification of directors(s) or owner(s).
  • Service connections are changed from temporary to permanent after the submission of an Electricity Supply Permit issued by TCI Government Planning Department.
