FortisTCI is thrilled to announce the launch of PROPEL: Empowered to Lead, an innovative, custom-designed emerging leaders training program. This initiative is designed to equip emerging leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to advance the Company's mission in the evolving energy sector.
In response to the ongoing energy transition and the accompanying changes, challenges, and opportunities, FortisTCI is proactively transforming its workforce to be future-ready and cultivating purposeful talent. Fifteen participants with varied backgrounds and capabilities were selected based on performance, quality of service, alignment with company values, and participation in the FortisTCI Career Development Plan program.
Participants will undergo ten months of comprehensive training covering various topics, including business acumen specific to the energy industry, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and essential soft skills such as navigating courageous conversations and the disciplines of execution.
The program is multidimensional and forward-thinking, as it enhances individual capabilities while supporting the Company's strategic goals and contributing to the broader community. Participants will engage in a capstone project tasked with devising practical solutions to real-world challenges in the energy sector that align with FortisTCI's strategic initiatives. Additionally, the participants will develop a community project, which has the potential to be formally adopted into the Company’s portfolio of ongoing community initiatives. Each participant has also been assigned a mentor, selected from within the FortisTCI Management team, to support their journey.
The PROPEL program is facilitated by Richard Solomon, a distinguished thought leader, researcher, best-selling author, and strategist known for his leadership development, organizational transformation, strategic planning, and change management expertise.
President and CEO Ruth Forbes expressed her enthusiasm for the program, stating, "We're excited about the launch of PROPEL, which underscores our commitment to human development. Our people are at the heart of delivering safe, reliable and least-cost energy to the Turks and Caicos Islands, and will remain central throughout the energy transition. Preparing our team with adaptive leadership skills and a solutions-oriented mindset is crucial for the Company's and the country's sustainable development. Our goal is to power up the Turks and Caicos Islands for a sustainable future, and our people are key to achieving this purpose."
