FortisTCI devoted to Education, Youth, Culture and Sports

FortisTCI devoted to Education, Youth, Culture and Sports 21Feb 2012

Officials from the Ministry of Education, Youth, Culture and Sports collected a $10,000 check today issued by the leading utility company in Providenciales. The contribution was made to ensure students country wide, have the opportunity to take part and represent their schools in this year's Science Fair.

This is the second year that ForitsTCI has signed on to assist with making this scholastic event a success, and the company hopes to continue supporting the effort. Vice President of Corporate and Customer Services Allan Robinson said "FortisTCI is an avid fan of Education. We are constantly looking for outlets that promote the study of science and math. So as you can imagine, it is important to us that we are a part of bringing together young scholars in the Turks and Caicos Islands for that purpose."

Organizers expect to see an array of displays this year from students as the theme, "Students of the TCI - Exploring the Scientific Method" leaves much to their imagination. Director of Education, Edgar Howell said, "Students are excited about their projects and that is what makes this such a big deal. We are inspiring students to learn and nurturing those young minds who are curious about the way in which the world around them works." The contribution will be used towards the purchasing of project tools and supplies, travel and stay for students and teachers participating from neighbouring islands, meals through the course of the two day event, as well as awards and prizes.

The Fair will take place March 7th and 8th, in downtown Providenciales at the Gustavus Lightbourne Sports Complex and it will be open to the public at no cost. FortisTCI also took the time to present Ministry of Education Officals with a framed copy of the 2012 calendar titled "National Symbols of the Turks and Caicos Islands" available for customers at their headquarters.
